On June 19, 2024, a round table meeting was held in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the topic “The effectiveness of measures of state support for tourism development in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation under the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry”.

The round table was opened by Elena Perminova, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy.

The round table was moderated by Mokhmad Akhmadov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy.

The main report was made by Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

Directors of departments of a number of ministries and heads of tourism committees of individual constituent entities of the Russian Federation also spoke at the event.

Evgeniy Trofimov, Rector of the Russian International Academy for Tourism, spoke at the round table, where he raised the issue of intensifying the work of regions with municipalities in the field of tourism development. Evgeniy Nikolaevich linked this to the fact that 49% of the country’s population during 2023 vacationed at their dacha or at home. Of those who traveled on vocation, only 27% vacationed once, the rest two or more times.

“Thus, in municipal structures it is necessary to create conditions for the development of tourism for the poor, middle-income people and veterans. In 2023, 84 million trips were made by Russian citizens. The goal is to increase the number of trips to 140 million in the near future. It should be taken into account that the population in Russia is only 146 million people. So that it does not turn out that not all citizens of the Russian Federation use the infrastructure that is created for tourism,” noted Evgeniy Nikolaevich.

In addition, Evgeniy Nikolaevich Trofimov raised an issue related to the remuneration of specialists in the tourism and hotel industry.
