THE RUSSIAN INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF TOURISM CELEBRATED ITS 55TH ANNIVERSARY
The anniversary of the Russian International Academy of Tourism is an important event that was reported in the press. Publications with interviews of the Rector of the Russian International Academy for Tourism, Doctor of Political Sciences Evgeny Trofimov in such popular publications as "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", "Delovaya Rossiya" caused a great public resonance due to the Rector’s principled and clear stand.
An engaging program and pleasant surprises have been prepared for the anniversary celebration. To begin with, instead of the traditional report of the Rector, this time there was a demonstration of a ten-minute movie telling about Academy’s achievements.
After the film, the Rector, Doctor of Political Sciences Evgeny Trofimov took the floor. He warmly thanked the representatives of institutions and organizations present in the hall for their help and support to the Academy.
Evgeny Nikolaevich recalled the first rector of RIAT Valery Aleksandrovich Kvartalnov, the author of the model of continuous professional tourism education. Without exaggeration - he served the Academy until his last breath. Words of gratitude were expressed to Igor Vladimirovich Zorin, who took over the baton from Valery Alexandrovich and led the Academy for ten years. These worthy people, scientists were at the forefront the Academy.
Evgeny Nikolaevich emphasized the greeting and gratitude of the Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, to whom he expressed his sincere gratitude for the careful attention to the students of the Russian International Academy for Tourism, as well as for the professional attitude to the problems of social tourism.
Numerous congratulations also testify to the authority of the Academy and its worthy place in the educational space. The Rector listed all those who sent greetings on the anniversary.
The congratulatory part was opened by Victor Georgievich Pugiev, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, President of the joint-stock company "Central Council for Tourism and Recreation", founder of RIAT. The first vice-president Nazarova Galina Surenovna, vice-president Trofimov Andrey Evgenyevich, chief accountant Paltseva Taisiya Ivanovna also attended the ceremony. Victor Georgievich is one of those who not only created the Academy, but also became one of the founders of the legislative base of modern tourism, uniting and supporting such enthusiasts as the first rectors Valery Alexandrovich Kvartalnov and Igor Vladimirovich Zorin, as well as Alexander Sergeyevich Sokolov. Viktor Georgievich also awarded a large group of the Academy staff certificates.
In turn, Evgeny Nikolayevich awarded the heads of the CCT RIAT Honorary Badge "Education and Tourism - for the sake of peace and progress".

Recently a business forum of the Academy graduates was held, 35 top managers working today in tourism and heading the largest tourism enterprises took part in it. The ceremony was attended by: Svetlana Anufrienko, 2003 graduate, head of government relations department of MTS-travel company and Andrey Rusakov, 2007 graduate, deputy general director of Dolphin tour operator.
In honor of the momentous event the Academy staff received greetings from: Igor Levitin, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation; Vladimir Medynsky, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation; Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; Sergey Volkov, second generation cosmonaut; Vladimir Kotlyakov, Honorary President of the Russian Geographical Society; Vladimir Kotlyakov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Vladimir Kotlyakov, Honorary President of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Vladimir Kotlyakov, Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Igor Yuryevich Bryntsalov, Head of the Moscow Regional Duma, awarded the Academy with the Certificate of Honor for conscientious work and high professionalism in work.
Foreign partners didn’t leave the Academy’s anniversary without attention. Video congratulations were sent by Mr. Alain Sebban, Founding President of the Vatel Group, Mr. Luis Lezama, President of the Lezama Group (Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism in Seville, Madrid School of Hospitality, Santa Maria la Blanca International Gastronomic College, Higher Open Hospitality Courses, Hotel Business School), Mr. Paulo Reves, President of Eurodip, Mr. Isabel Novoa, President of ISTO. Mr. Pralay Ganguli, Rector of Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata (India) arrived for the celebrations. At the end of the last year, a cooperation agreement was signed between RIAT and the Institute of Hotel Management. The agreement provides for various forms of cooperation. New agreements will be signed in the near future.
Leading specialists in the tourism and hospitality industry, heads of enterprises, famous sportsmen, such as world-famous hockey players Nikita Kucherov and Igor Ozhiganov are among the Academy graduates. The Academy was congratulated on the anniversary by the Olympic champion, player of professional hockey club "Dynamo" Nikita Gusev, who is getting his second higher education at the Academy in the direction of "Law" and a member of the Russian national basketball team, silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo Alexander Zuev.
Yevgeny Nikolayevich awarded all members of the Rectorate: Vladimir Pityukov, Vladimir Zhidkikh, Nadezhda Laguseva, Elena Aliluyko, Tatiana Rassokhina, Anton Larionov, Marina Tomilova, Olga Klyueva, and Lilia Gorbacheva the RIAT Badge of Honor ("Education and Tourism for Peace and Progress"). All of them were also honored with other high awards.
On this solemn and festive day, of course, veterans of the Academy were also honored: they were awarded Honorary Plaques of the RIAT "Education and Tourism - for Peace and Progress".
Not everyone was able to give the floor for congratulations on the stage of the hall, there was still a festive concert prepared by students of RIAT and its branches.
Artistic and acrobatic compositions, songs, dances, a quartet of the right choir of the Trinity Church, and then a surprise from the Rector - a performance by Dmitry Abramov, laureate of international and Russian music competitions, honorary artist of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, who was also awarded the Honorary Badge of RIAT - all this created a festive atmosphere and caused a sense of unity and pride for the Academy.
